Does this program take place of the Speech Language Pathologist?

No, absolutely not. This program can assist children in reaching their goals sooner and also help you retain status when there are therapy cancellations or times when speech is interrupted (beginning and ending of school year, spring break, vacations, etc).

Do you have to take the screening portion of the website in order to do the therapy?

No, if you are already seeing an SLP and know what sounds you need to work on, you may begin at the therapy portion of the site. Note that the fee for the screening is credited to the therapy portion so if you do both there is virtually no cost to do the screening.

Do parents have to be present at all speech sessions?

Depending upon the age of your child, yes, but I would recommend it at least for the first 3-5 times to make sure your child is getting the proper mouth placement cues for each sound. After that, I would recommend being nearby so that you can hear and observe what your child is doing. Children who work on their speech with their parents make gains much faster than those who do not.

What is needed to do the therapy program online?

Internet access and a mirror for placement.

What is needed to do the screening program online?

Internet access, parent's ability to hear child's speech, and parent's ability to answer questions after each picture/word.
